We're continually seeking ways to improve our operations, from nurturing supplier relationships and aiding communities across the world  to refining our products. This broad approach is integral to our sustainability mission.

INVASIVE TREES: A NOVEL SOLUTION

 

LABTOS Charcoal has turned a significant ecological problem into an innovative solution. Invasive trees, which are non-native species that spread rapidly and disrupt local ecosystems, pose a major threat to biodiversity and land health. By targeting these invasive species for charcoal production, we not only reduces pressure on native forests but also helps restore natural habitats and improve bio diversity.

SOURCING LOCAL PRODUCTS:

Our Logs are local  from British forests. This ensures we are supporting British forestry  and local businesses while at the same time reducing the distance some of our products have to travel.

ADVANCED PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES

 

To further enhance sustainability, we employ cutting-edge pyrolysis technology. This method involves the thermal decomposition of organic material at high temperatures in the absence of oxygen, resulting in a cleaner and more efficient production process. Pyrolysis significantly reduces harmful emissions and increases the yield of charcoal from the raw material.

 

Moreover, the by products of pyrolysis, such as bio-oil and syngas, are captured and utilized, minimizing waste and maximizing resource efficiency. This comprehensive use of resources exemplifies the principles of a circular economy.

Labtos Charcoal have a dedicated team that fosters special relationships with our  suppliers so that they know it is essential to meet our high standards through thorough checks on legality and sustainable sourcing as well as site visits. Building long-term relationships with suppliers enhances trust and product quality. We often provide financial support to help suppliers grow, benefiting local communities and economies. We're also collaborating with our packaging suppliers to make our bags more eco-friendly by using recyclable packaging to lessen our carbon footprint.

We constantly seek improvements in our distribution system. We work with  shipping companies that cares about sustainability.  We ensure our delivery vehicles  are ULEZ compliant, we optimize our delivery routes to maximize fuel efficiency.  We compact our delivery days and ensure our vehicle are fully loaded on those days thereby  reducing emissions.

REDUCING PLASTIC USE

We help with the reduction of waste on our environment by ensuring we use renewable packing for packing our products.

​​COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT and SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

At LABTOS Charcoal we are deeply committed to social responsibility and community involvement. We collaborate with local communities, providing education and resources to promote sustainable land management practices.

In addition, LABTOS invests in reforestation initiatives, planting native trees to replace the invasive species used in charcoal production. This not only aids in carbon sequestration but also helps restore natural habitats and support local biodiversity.
